I as of late have been feeling the feeling the stress of a budget more than I ever have. We are purchasing our first home this month!(which is exciting and scary at the same time) And then moving here we don't have little (or big) breaks in the budget because we are going over to parents houses to grab a bite to eat, watching the kids for temple night, ect...... I have to tell our parents thanks. I really didn't realize just how much of their food we ate. We appreciate you all. (we miss free tending, and your cooking!:)
Well Hyrum has been eating rice cereal for a while and then we started him on solids this month. I buy the Gerber little two packs of foods. They are a dollar for two without tax. It's been driving me crazy! So I finally decided to make my own food for him. Bananas and Carrots are his favorites. I went to Costco and bought a big bundle of Bananas and a Huge bag of Carrots. The Carrots cost around 5.50 for a bag. The Bananas were 1.75 a pound. Great prices, huge quantities. AWESOME! (I love having a Costco. I love the bags of Spinach to that are 3.99 a bag for 2.5 pounds!! washed three times, AND it lasts forever!)
Okay back to the baby food. I blended up 3 1/2 Bananas and it made enough for 5 of the little containers all the way full. For the carrots I boiled 9 (large) and it made 12 Containers!! I still have enough for 2 more batches of bananas and 3 more for carrots! It's already paid for it's self.
I would love to know any of your money saving tips. I think that we're all trying a little harder to reduce, make do, reuse, or do without.
My hope is that we all can live within our means and still be happy and positive!! Good Luck

It is so crazy how much money you can save doing it... I spent 60 at walmart and saved 80$ (I was so excited).

Great advice Erin! Conrats on the new home too!! EXCITING!!
I want to suggest a couple of websites that I love. First is www.livingonadime.com. You can get weekly newsletters which have cheap recipes etc. They have e-books for free and for purchase. They have a blog too. I love this website and have gotten so many ideas. Second, I would check out the Duggar Family website: www.duggarfamily.com (the people with 18 kids). Check out their recipes and links sections. I found their recipe for laundry detergent (crazy cheap!) and I love it-I'll never go back! Enjoy!
